Flatfold Easel Finish: Rabbit Roundabout

The Rabbit Roundabout Kit by Heart in Hand Needleart was another one of my in-progress, partially finished pieces from my "catching up" post on Needlework Finishes

The little rabbit sampler was next on my list of finishes after the Patriotic Cracker flatfold easel. I followed similar steps to complete this one, so didn't take any photos while in progress.

This was another little kit that spent years in my stash until I pulled it out to work on it in February-March 2019. The sampler was stitched using hand-dyed cotton floss on linen, embellished with buttons provided in the kit.

The blue-green polka dot fabric was a remnant from my collection and is a perfect match to the egg color in the sampler. For the twisted cord, I used 3 different shades of dark brown cotton embroidery floss to simulate the variations in color of the overdyed threads.

The finished size is about 3.5 inches wide by 5.75 inches high. The mat board and cardboard pieces were cut about 5/8 inch larger than the cross stitch design area.

This project was finished in mid-July and took about 2 days to complete, most of the elapsed time was due to waiting for glue to dry between each step.
