Beach Towels
One of the reasons I keep this blog is to remind myself what I made for whom, and how and when I made it. So, with that in mind, here's a follow-up on a previous batch of gifts from 2010.
Last summer, I embroidered names on beach towels for a handful of nieces and nephews. The selection of towels available in August was minimal - I was only able to find two pink and two blue towels like this one at Bed, Bath & Beyond.
As a result, the two birthday girls got pink towels:

And two nephews got blue towels, because they were at the same August pool party:
I missed out on one July birthday last year. To make up for it, as soon as I spotted beach towels in the store this summer, I picked up a blue one to embroider:
Each name was created using the Typo font in my 4D Embroidery software. To do the embroidery, I hooped wash-away stitcky stabilizer to hold the towel in place, with Sulky Solvy on top during the embroidery. For Richie's towel, I also floated a piece of tear-away stabilizer underneath the hoop while it was stitching.
