Shop News: Penny's Yappy Birthday Paw-ty

Yappy Birthday Bandana Collar SlipcoverSeptember 1st marks Penny's 5th birthday and we're celebrating all month long (just like we paw-tied for Keli's 10th birthday earlier this year).

In honor of the event, I've created a special Yappy Birthday Bandana. The Happy Birthday fabric has brightly colored text, balloons, streamers, confetti and stars in blue, green, pink, yellow, orange and purple on a black background.

Yappy Birthday Pet ScrunchieIt's also Keli's half-birthday, so she's wearing a matching Yappy Birthday Scrunchie Neck Ruffle, made of the same fabric.

We'll be celebrating by having a special birthday promotion in our SewAmazin ArtFire and Etsy shops - for every purchase made in the month of September 2012, we'll donate an extra 5% to either WestieMed.org or RBARI.org. For most items, that's a total of 15% of the item listing price.

No coupon codes are required and everything in either shop is included, even gift certificates for our ArtFire shop - we'll donate 5% of the gift certificate amount when purchased, and the usual amount when it is redeemed later.

Of course, Penny is hoping to beat Keli's Birthday Paw-ty extra donation of $18 so she can claim to be the top dog for a while. She's helping me pick out the fabrics and embroidery designs for some new Halloween bandanas and scrunchies to add to our shop in September.

Also in September, Keli and I are going to walk in our very first Mutts' Marathon for RBARI. She's been begging me to go for a few years, but we haven't been able to fit it into our schedule. So, this year we're finally going to do it to mark her 10.5 birthday.

We'd like to invite all of our friends to visit our fundraising page and sponsor us for $5 to help us reach our goal of $100.

If you're wondering why Penny is not going to the Mutts' Marathon - well, one of the rules for dogs is that they can't be aggressive on-leash. While Keli generally behaves nicely around other dogs while leashed, Penny still has some 'issues'. We'll work on that so hopefully she'll be able to go next year ... or maybe the year after that, lol!
