Kitty Cat Gadget Cases & Coin Pouches

June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month! We hear that it's also "kitten season" so the shelters are especially full of felines looking for foster and fur-ever homes.

Although we like the kitties, we cannot adopt any of them - two feisty terriers are quite enough for us these days. Instead, we try to support one of our local shelters, Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc (RBARI). They have a no-kill policy and work to find homes for all kinds of animals, including feral cats, seniors, and special needs pets. We donate a percentage of sales of select items in our SewAmazin shops to RBARI.

This month seems like an appropriate time to share these Kitty Cat Gadget Cases and Coin Purses on the blog. I started making them back in January of this year. Each Kitty Cat is made using an in-the-hoop zipper case embroidery design from Embroidery Garden.

They're purr-fectly adorable! The larger zipper case is just the right size to carry a digital camera and other small devices. The smaller coin purse is small enough to attach to a handbag or key ring to keep track of small things like jewelry, lip balm or spare change.

Since January, I've made Kitty Cats in an array of colors and prints, from batik green to marbled gray and brown; many of them have made their way down to the Cozy Quilt Shoppe where they've been promptly 'adopted' by the nice quilt ladies. I'll bet they're using the zipper cases to carry their scissors and other sewing supplies.

I made matching eyeglass cases for some of the kitties (using another design from EG), but didn't have a chance to photograph any of them. Hopefully I'll have a chance to make more of them this month, just as soon as I wrap a few other things.

The pink, blue and orange kitties in this blog post are all still looking for homes... you can 'adopt' them from the Cat Fanciers section of my SewAmazin website.
